Did you know that nearly half of all Australians with depression, anxiety or stress don’t seek help?
May be you don’t think you need professional help or maybe you just can not get an appointment. Whatever your reason, myCompass is available for you.
MyCompass is a new internet and mobile phone based program for people with mild to moderate depression, anxiety or stress. It is designed to help you identify the thoughts, feelings, and behaviour that might be causing trouble. MyCompass is specially developed by a team of psychologists at the Black Dog Institute and supported by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing.
The MyCompass program leads you through a series of simple learning modules that will equip you with the skills and strategies you need to navigate through life. It encourages self-help and uses a variety of messages, facts and resources to keep you motivated. Let’s get one thing straight -myCompass is not a quick fix. You need to commit to the program for a minimum of seven weeks to gain the maximum benefit to your mood, anxiety and stress level. The good news is that myCompass has been designed to motivate and encourage you to complete your journey. Email and SMS reminders will prompt you to monitor and record your thoughts and feelings.
MyCompass is free for all Australians (excluding mobile phone data usage and internet access charges)
MyCompass is not a subtitute for clinical treatment or advise. If you have a serious mental health condition, you should not use myCompass. Rather seek urgent medical advise from either your doctor or mental health care professional
